LED moving head UPDATE
I came across a newer fixture today. PR Lighting XL590. It's a LED moving head wash light. It's slightly larger in size than the Mac 301 and Impression 120RZ, weighs a little more, and it uses a little more power. It's in the same category as far as brightness goes.
Tomorrow, I'll compare the 700 watt, hard edge fixtures.

Martin vs. Elation
Alright, so comparing LED moving head fixtures is not the easiest task. First of all, the only two that I have found, that are even close to comparing, are Martin's Mac 301 and Elation's Impression 120RZ Zoom. The rest of the LED head fixtures are all over the board in regards to size, weight, lumens, and cost.
So here is a side by side of the Mac 301 and Impression 120RZ Zoom:

I'm still waiting for the photometrics of the Impression fixture. PLASA is going on you know! Martin has informed me that the MSRP of the Mac 301 has just been reduced, so we should know that number by today.

LED moving head fixtures
So, since Martin just released the Mac 101, I decided to compile information about moving head LED fixtures. Even though this type of fixture has not been on the market very long, there is already a fairly wide range of choices.
Right now, I'm looking at Martin Mac 101, 301 and 401. (You think the 201 will be out soon?) I've also got eyes on Elation Impression, Chauvet Legend 4500 and 6500, and of course the Vari*Lite VLX Wash.
If anyone has any comments, videos, or pictures of shows where you have used LED moving heads, please post them here and let us know what you thought of the fixtures as you used them.

Welcome!
Well, I've been in the concert lighting industry for just over 15 years now. I've always wanted a resource that would give me information about all of the lighting fixtures that exist. I've decided to try and create that resource. I want to Compare Lights. I want to give information such as cost, brightness, colors, applications, etc. about theatrical lighting fixtures. I always had (and have) trouble figuring out which fixture is right for a particular application and be cost effective. Every tour I have ever been on has always been concerned about the bottom dollar which in turn always dictated the budget of the lighting rig for the tour. Searching for the right fixture for the right price is not an easy task.
So, I've decided to try it as a bog site first and we'll see how it goes. I want anyone and everyone in the lighting industry to tell us what you are using and why. Please post comments, questions, and ideas that you may have. The more information we can gather into one source, the better we can determine the best fixture for the right application. Eventually I want to have a website that will compile all of this information. For now, blogging is what we'll do.
This is certainly a continual work in progress and will continue to evolve as we go!
To start out: Let's look at the a video of the new Martin Mac 101 posted by Brad Haynes.
